Weekend not quite over.

The weekend of hockey before the Christmas break isn't quite done, but we'll recap what has transpired anyways.

Wilkie Senior Outlaws: Friday night was "Broadcast Night" at the SaskCan Arena. Dan O'Connor was on hand to call the game for CJNB, but, unfortunately, the visiting Maidstone Jets pulled the rug out, and left with a 4-3 decision. The turning point of the game came early in the 3rd period when Maidstone scored 2 goals in 2 minutes, going from 1 down to 1 up almost instantly.
Saturday night was "Dale Willick Night", as the Spiritwood Timberwolves were in town. A moment of silence was observed for the passing of a fantastic man, an ambassador to the game of hockey, and former statistician for the NSRHL, Dale Willick. The Outlaws organization also donated $100 to the Canadian Paraplegic Association. A cheque was presented on ice from coach Bruce Yockey to Timberwolves captian Ryan Willick. Once the game commenced, it become a chippy affair with piled of penalties and scrums after over half of the stoppages. At the end of the day, the Outlaws did prevail 8-1. They move to 7-4 on the season.

Battlefords Beaver Blues: It was a different experience for me playing music for a team without seeing the Outlaw uni has the "good guys", however it was still a honour to be doing the game, regardless of jerseys. With Jay Crockett as my annoucing partner, the Blues fell to the visiting Radisson Wheat Kings 5-3. The Blues led 3-1 mid way through the second, however, the wheels fell off. The Blues had wide open "cages" all night, and being unable to cash in on them ultimately was their demise.

This afternoon, the Bantams play a matinee game. Full report to be posted soon. The Midget Outlaws also played last night in Kerrobert, however, at blog posting time, I had not heard a score.
