Outlaws win over Red Wings.
Things began early as just 29 seconds in, Bernard Charpentier was sin-binned for a double minor for checking to the head. The Outlaws were unable to capitalize on that, nor could they on a Boarding call on Tyson Walker. But the 0/3 start on the PP didn't deter Wilkie, as they broke thru at the 16:42 mark of the 1st. Jaymon took a nice feed from Colby Fulton (Anthony Delainey was credited with the second assist) and put the home team up by one after 1 period.
The second period started much the same, as the Wings' Dayton Deobald was penalized for Tripping, but again, the Midgets couldn't pot one on the PP, but once again, the even strength play shined on this night, as Sander potted his second of the night from Fulton. Rosetown received their first Power Play of the night when captain Zach Wangler was called for Hooking, but the Wings did nothing with the extra man. Exactly 30 seconds after Wangler was released, Sander was sent in all alone, and lit up Wings keeper Austin Sparks for his hattrick goal. The teams hit the dressing rooms with the scoreboard reading 3-0 for the home team.
The 3rd period had the tables turned slightly, with Wilkie taking the early penalty, Riley Thomas for Interference, and Rosetown finally taking advantage. Charpentier scored on the doorstep to cut the deficit to 2, but 33 seconds later, the Outlaws answered again, with Sean Fenrich scoring, and Sander assisting, giving the home team the 4-1 lead, and thats how this one would end.
Stay tuned for pictures.

SJHL Hall of Fame inductees annouced.
The city of Yorkton and the SJHL Terriers will play host to the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on November 19th and there will be a distinct local flavor going in during the third annual dinner. Darrell Spelay, the SJHL's all-time scoring leader with 243-goals and 208-assists, will headline the class that also includes his former coach, Gerry James, as well as builder Gene Krepekevich, and retired broadcaster Terry Struthers. Krepekevich coached minor hockey and volunteered with the Yorkton Sr Terriers from 1966-1971 and served as Vice President of the Jr Terriers from 1984 to 1986. He was instrumental, perhaps the key player, in saving the team from near bankruptcy during the mid 1980s. He was also an important figure in establishing the Terrier Scholarship Fund for post secondary education in 1986. He served as Terrier President from 1986-1993 and was Vice Chair of the SJHL from 1990-1994. He authored “History Of The Yorkton Terriers: 1972-1997 The Puck Stops Here” which was later placed in the NHL Sports Hall Of Fame. He also co-chaired Yorkton's RBC Cup event in 1999 and still actively volunteers and supports the Yorkton Terriers. The SJHL also announced November 18th will be the SJHL Hall Of Fame Game, when the Humboldt Broncos visit the Terriers. |
